My Journey into Coaching
I’ve been honored as a Top 15 Business Woman in Illinois – National Diversity Council. I’ve also received the following awards: Role Model Award for Mentoring and Team Development, People Development, Unsung Hero, and Humanitarian Award.
While I’m proud of these professional awards, and my experiences in corporate America, I wanted to do more. I wanted to pursue my dream of helping other women succeed in their professional lives by becoming a certified wellbeing coach, with training in positive psychology.
My Personal Story
I’ve done a lot of internal work to get where I am today. I entered the professional world shy, lacking confidence, and suffering from perfectionism.
I did what others expected of me, instead of trusting my own instincts. What others thought of me became more important than what I thought of myself, and I wanted to do all that I could to live up to those expectations.
I overcame these habits and thought patterns with the help of positive psychology in my own life. I developed healthy habits and removed the toxic relationships from my life. I created hard goals and refused to leave the outcome of the future to chance. Optimism and authenticity became central tenets as I evolved into the person I was meant to be.
As a single mother, I advanced in my career, completed my degree, and ran marathons – all while raising my three sons. I did all this while exploring my hobbies of running, biking, reading and learning, traveling, sipping wine, and socializing with friends and family.
I often get questions such as “Can I grow my career while raising a family?” and “How can I find my purpose?” I am living proof that it’s possible, and that you can find your purpose while giving these other areas of your life the proper attention they deserve.
I benefited from the help of excellent leaders, mentors, and coaches along my journey. They each provided a gentle nudge forward when I lacked confidence in myself. I made a lot of mistakes along the way, but I’ve learned so much.
